Jillian Michaels Interview

January 18, 2022

For nutrition, how important is it for these parents to help their kids with good food choices to be successful in their sports?

Jillian Michaels- “Now, look, you can educate your kids about eating healthy, of course, and you lead by example. But, you know, if the kid is like, I'm motivated, I'm driven. I want to be the next Kobe Bryant or Tom Brady, or whatever it might be, then I imagine you have a really receptive audience, right. It's a very different beast, as opposed to a kid that's like eating for comfort or eating to feed deeper psychological hunger and will interpret it as some form of criticism that you won’t love them, if you're suggesting they need to change the way they're eating. I mean, it's such a different animal. So, you know, I would have to go into this presuming that the child is receptive, because they want greatness.

How do we push our kids or propel them to reach their potential or goals without it feeling like it’s the parents goals?

Jillian Michaels-  "It's asking those leading questions about what they want, what is it that you actually want? You know, Oh, I see you're really inspired by such and such. Oh, I see that you really enjoy this team, this player, this guy, what is it that you like about them? Yeah, and you just lay down the breadcrumbs and you allow them to start to form this vision for themselves, but you pull it out of them."
